Frequently asked questions

Everything hobbyists ask before handing their backlog to a dataslate.

What is a "pile of potential" and how does this app help?

The pile of potential is every unbuilt, unprimed, half-painted miniature in your backlog — every one a future centerpiece. Hobby Dataslate turns it into a tracked painting pipeline: every model moves through stages from unassembled to finished, with stats, velocity charts, and a completion predictor that estimates when you'll actually clear the pile.

Does it work on iPhone?

Yes — Hobby Dataslate is on the App Store for iPhone and iPad. It's also available on Google Play for Android and as a web app that runs in any mobile or desktop browser, including Safari.

Is Hobby Dataslate an official Games Workshop app?

No. Hobby Dataslate is an unofficial, fan-made hobby tool and is completely independent — not affiliated with, endorsed, or sponsored by Games Workshop. Datasheet and box data are community-maintained.

How much does it cost?

Free forever for up to 40 units and 5 armies, with imports, achievements, desk sessions, activity, and repairs included. Premium ($1/mo) removes collection and friend caps and adds photo journals, gallery tools, and public sharing; Hero ($5/mo) adds advanced stats, showcases, and cosmetics.

Can I import my BattleScribe or New Recruit lists?

Yes — import BattleScribe (.rosz), New Recruit (.json), or paste from the official app. Imported lists show what you already own versus what the list still needs, and you can add the shortfall to your wishlist in one tap.

Can I track my paints and recipes too?

Yes — keep a paint inventory with almost-empty flags, build per-unit paint recipes you can copy as text, and log desk time with painting sessions. Batch projects keep whole squads moving through the same stages together.

Do I need an account?

No — guest mode works instantly in the browser and on device; sign in later with Google or Apple to sync across devices without losing data.

Can I export my data or delete my account?

Yes — export tournament PDFs and insurance valuation PDFs anytime, and delete your account and all data from Settings or the website's delete-account page.
